Vol. 89 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Carlow Unemployment Assistance Claim.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state on what grounds unemployment assistance benefit has been refused to Mr. E. Trodden, Bridewell Lane, Carlow.

Mr. Trodden's application for unemployment assistance was refused on the grounds that he did not satisfy the statutory condition for the receipt of unemployment assistance which requires an applicant to be genuinely seeking and unable to obtain suitable employment.

As new facts relating to the applicant's family circumstances have come to the knowledge of the Department the disallowance imposed on the application has been removed. Instructions have been issued to the local exchange for the early payment of any assistance due.
