Vol. 91 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grain Mills' Coal Supply.

asked the Minister for Supplies if, in view of the large quantity of wet grain suitable only for feeding purposes, which is in danger of serious deterioration, he will consider issuing permits for the purchase of coal to country mills working on commission for the drying of such grain and for oatmeal purposes.

As I have indicated in replies to recent similar questions, I cannot, in the present difficult circumstances in regard to coal supplies, see my way to make coal available generally to commission millers for the drying of grain. The only exception is in the case of the grinding of oats into oatmeal for human consumption where it is satisfactorily established that the use of turf is impracticable.

I am not aware that there is any unusual quantity of wet grain this season.
