Vol. 91 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation Payments.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that a number of men injured by accident arising out of and in the course of their employment who are receiving workmen's compensation at rates lower than 30/- per week are not entitled to the supplementary addition awarded under the recent Emergency Powers Order, and whether in view of the fact that a considerable number of persons are affected, and that most of them receive totally inadequate compensation under present circumstances, he is prepared to amend the Emergency Powers Order so as to extend the supplementary payment to all injured workmen entitled to compensation under either the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1906, or the Act of 1934.

I would refer the Deputy to the answer I gave to a similar question on the 21st ultimo.

Is the Minister not yet in a position to state the result of the consideration which he then said was being given to the matter?
