Vol. 92 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cowling of Lights in Rural Areas.

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defensive Measures whether he will permit the removal of cowls from street lights in rural areas more than ten miles from the sea coast.

I regret that I cannot accede to the Deputy's request.

Is there any special reason why it is deemed expedient to maintain the cowling in inland towns at present?

The same considerations obtain as applied when cowling was first introduced.

Are we to understand that that view will probably continue to obtain until the end of the war?

I think so, yes.
