Vol. 92 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Eggs by Weight.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in respect of hen eggs sold by poultry-keepers to registered dealers, he will introduce the system of determining and controlling the price by weight (per lb.), with a view to encouraging the marketing of better quality eggs.

The purchase of eggs by weight from producers has been under consideration. It is impracticable in existing circumstances, owing to the difficulty of securing the necessary equipment, to make buying by weight compulsory.
