Vol. 92 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clinic for Juvenile Delinquents.

asked the Minister for Justice when he proposes to provide the clinic for juvenile delinquents on remand, and what equipment and personnel he intends to provide for the clinic.

Mr. Boland

All juvenile delinquents committed to the place of detention at Summerhill are examined by a doctor on admission, and arrangements have been made for a further examination by a specialist in mental diseases in cases where the justice of the District Court considers such further examination desirable.

I do not consider that it is necessary to provide any special equipment or personnel in the place of detention for the purpose of such examinations. If experience shows that any special equipment or personnel is necessary, however, I shall reconsider the matter.
