Vol. 92 No. 9

Written Answers. - Agricultural Output.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what is (a) the estimated money value of the agricultural output of Éire for the year 1942-43, and (b) the estimated value of the industrial output of Éire for the year 1942-43.

The value of the gross agricultural output in the year 1942-43 was estimated to be £86,203,000. The estimated value of farm materials purchased by farmers in 1942-43 (animal feeding, fertilisers and seeds) was £2,596,000 so that the net output was £83,607,000. As returned at the Censuses of Industrial Production the values of gross and net output in 1942 of industrial transportable goods were £84,640,000 and £29,400,000, respectively. The year 1937 was the latest year for which a complete Census of Industrial Production was taken. Since then the inquiry has related to transportable goods only.
