Vol. 92 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Fish from Donegal.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that the L. M. & S. Heysham steamers, Belfast, are not permitted to accept more than ten tons of fish from County Donegal in one day; and if, in view of this serious restriction on such perishable goods, he will in the interest of the fishing industry take all possible steps to have the matter satisfactorily adjusted.

I am aware that a measure of apprehension exists as to the probable effect which the restrictions referred to by the Deputy are likely to have upon the Donegal fishing industry and I am having the matter carefully examined in its various aspects. It is not one upon which I can make a definite statement at the present stage.
