Vol. 92 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transfer of National Stud.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is now in a position to make a statement as to the financial arrangements between the British and Irish Governments arising out of the transfer to Britain of the National Stud at Tully, Kildare, and the Government's intentions in respect of the stud.

No. The discussion of the financial arrangements has not yet been completed. The question of the future use of the Tully farm is under consideration.

The Minister intimated in reply to a previous question on the 14th December last that he thought the position would be cleared up after Christmas and, impliedly, he intimated that it would perhaps be possible to make a statement.

It is not cleared up yet.

I am accepting that. Can the Minister give any indication as to when he hopes to make a statement on the position?

I could not say really. It may be cleared up within a few weeks or it may take months.

Would it be convenient if I submitted a further question in three weeks?

I could not promise that it would be cleared up then.

Will the Minister take an opportunity of making a statement on the matter? This is a matter not only of considerable interest locally, but to the bloodstock industry generally.

That is right.

The answers to the remaining questions will appear in the Official Report of the Debates.
