Vol. 92 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the position as regards the Kinsella estate, Oldtown, County Dublin, and the reason why all the allottees were not from the Oldtown district, and also what portion of the estate is still to be divided; and if he is prepared to consider local applicants who are suitable.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reasons why suitable local applicants were not allocated holdings on the O'Keefe Kinsella estate, Clonmethon, Oldtown; where the allottees hail from, and why these people were placed before suitable local deserving applicants.

I propose to take together the Deputy's two questions relative to the Kinsella estates, comprising a total area of 282 acres of the lands of Oldtown, Clonmethon and Jordanstown. The claims of local applicants were duly considered by the Land Commission in connection with the allotment of these lands and 84 acres have been divided among these applicants, none of whom resided more than a mile and a half from the lands. Arrangements are being made for the allotment of the balance of the lands (198 acres).

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the exact position as regards the McCarthy estate, Lissenhall, and the name of the person to whom the house and a part of the land has been allotted; and if he is prepared to consider suitable local applicants for the balance of the estate.

The McCarthy estate (Record No. S.8149), comprising 173 acres of the lands of Lissenhall, was acquired by the Land Commission on 19th March, 1940. Approximately 60 acres were allotted forthwith to three local applicants and the balance of 113 acres (including the residence) has not yet been allotted. It is hoped to have the greater portion of this balance allotted at an early date. The qualifications of local and all other applicants will be considered by the Land Commission.
