Vol. 92 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dalkey Sub-Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he received from residents of Dalkey, County Dublin, a petition asking for the establishment of a salaried sub-post office; whether he is aware that the scale payment office in the town does not transact business relating to a variety of matters usually transacted in salaried sub-offices, that local residents are grievously inconvenienced thereby and that in many respects the present arrangements are unsatisfactory; and whether, in the circumstances, he is prepared, in view of the fact that some suitable premises are now vacant in centrally-situated districts in the town, to take immediate steps to establish a salaried sub-office.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative and it is considered that the needs of the district will be fully and adequately met by the proposed new arrange ments.
