Vol. 92 No. 17

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Paraffin for Licensed Premises.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that owners of licensed premises who are dependent for light on either paraffin or candles are experiencing great difficulty in lighting their premises on the existing ration; and if he will state whether he now finds himself in a position to increase the ration of paraffin even, if necessary, by curtailing the allowance of other consumers.

I am aware that owners of licensed premises who are dependent for light on either paraffin or candles are, in common with the community generally, experiencing difficulty in lighting their premises.

Having regard to the limited supplies of paraffin oil available for distribution and the heavy demands for essential agricultural operations, I regret I am not in a position to increase the allowance granted for the lighting of licensed premises.
