Vol. 92 No. 17

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Production of Milk Powder.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (1) the amount of milk powder produced in Éire in year 1943; (2) the amount of such milk powder exported; (3) the amount of such milk powder consumed in Eire; (4) the price per lb. for quantity exported, and the price per lb. in Eire; and (5) the quantity of new milk required to produce one lb. of milk powder.

The amount of full cream milk powder produced in this country in 1943 was 33,354 cwt. As regards items (2), (3) and (4), it is not the practice to publish particulars of exports or figures from which such particulars can be deduced. It can be stated, however, that the home market was adequately supplied with full cream milk powder, the price being approximately 1/1¼ per lb. The quantity of new milk required to produce one lb. of powder is from 6 to 6½ pints.
