Vol. 93 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Old Age Pension.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state why it is not proposed to pay moneys due in respect of old age pension to Mrs. Terese Keegan, Corleane, Ferbane, County Offaly, whose orders went out of date; and if he is prepared to give special consideration to her case in view of the fact that the pensioner in question did not understand the procedure.

Paragraph 5 (b) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1911, provides that a sum shall not be paid on account of an old age pension if payment is not obtained within three months after the date on which it has become payable.

In this particular case, certain pension orders issued on the 9th of July, 1943, were not presented to the post office for payment until the 31st of December, 1943, and payment was refused.

I am not prepared to give special consideration to the application for payment of the orders in question.
