Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Appointments.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of candidates who were (a) successful, (b) qualified, and (c) failed, in the recent Limited Competitive Examination confined to full-time and part-time temporary Post Office clerks for appointment to the Post Office clerk class.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of candidates who were (a) successful, (b) who qualified, and (c) failed, in the recent Limited Competitive Examination confined to Post Office clerks and postmen for clerical officer posts.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of candidates who were (a) successful, (b) qualified, and (c) failed, in the recent Limited Competitive Examinations confined to part-time and temporary telephonists for established appointments on the telephone class.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of candidates who were (a) successful, (b) qualified, and (c) failed, in the recent Limited Competitive Examination confined to postmen "A" and "B" for Post Office clerk appointments at Dublin.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 2 to 5 together.

As the information requested by the Deputy contains a number of figures and is in the form of a tabular statement I propose to circulate it in the Official Report.

The following is the information:—

Particulars of the number of candidates who (a) were successful, (b) qualified and (c) failed in the recent confined competitions for appointment to certain grades in the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.

(a) Arrangements are being made, subject to the issue of the necessary Civil Service Certificates of Qualification, to make 13 further appointments as Post Office Clerk, Grade B (Male), and 7 further appointments as Clerical Officer (Male).
