Vol. 94 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Milk Board.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in relation to the Dublin Milk Board (a) how the board is nominated; (b) the number of members; (c) the qualifications on which selection of members was made; (d) the number representing producers' interests; (e) the number representing consumers' interests; (f) the number of civil servants; and (g) the remuneration paid to members.

The chairman and ordinary members of the Dublin District Milk Board are nominated by me in accordance with Article 4 of Emergency Powers (No. 247) Order, 1942. The board consists of a chairman and two ordinary members. The Order does not prescribe any special qualifications of members.

There is no direct representation on the board of producers or consumers but the board has due regard to these interests and obtains from time to time the views of a consultative council consisting of seven representatives of producers, three of retailers and three of wholesalers. The two ordinary members are civil servants. The chairman receives a salary of £700 per annum, and the ordinary members are in receipt of an allowance of £100 per annum from the funds of the board.
