Vol. 94 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recruitment for Children's Allowances Branch.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether temporary staff is being recruited for the administration of the Children's Allowances Act; and, if so, what steps applicants should take who desire to secure employment in this division.

Temporary staff required for the administration of the Children's Allowances Act has already been recruited. Any further temporary staff required to fill casual vacancies will for some time to come be appointed from amongst candidates regarded as qualified by an Inter-Departmental Selection Board, which, in April-May, 1944, interviewed applicants who were registered for employment at the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Employment Exchanges.

Would the Minister state whether there is any use in new candidates applying to be put on that panel? Will they have any hope of employment?

No; not now.
