Vol. 94 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade of Wexford Ports.

asked the Minister for Supplies if representations have been made to his Department asking that the ports of Wexford and Rosslare Harbour should be given their due share of maritime trade, and if, in view of the quick dispatch that can be guaranteed at these ports, he will now state if he will grant the request made.

I have received representations urging that the ports of Wexford and Rosslare Harbour should be used in importing cargoes of coal. Owing to the limited shipping at present engaged in the coal trade discharges must be arranged so as to secure the quickest possible turn-round of the ships. The claims of these two ports and of other provincial ports are constantly in mind, however, and use will be made of them if, at any time, it can be achieved without loss of time.
