Vol. 94 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bookmakers' Licences.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state for each of the years 1940, 1941, 1942 and 1943 (a) the number of S.P. licences issued and the revenue derived from such licences, and (b) the number of field licences issued and the revenue derived from such licences.

The holder of a bookmaker's licence is authorised to take bets both in registered bookmaking offices and at racecourses, etc., and the distinction implied in the Deputy's question does not exist.

As regards the number of bookmakers' licences issued and the revenue derived therefrom in the years mentioned, I would refer the Deputy to my replies to questions asked by Deputy P.J. Fogarty on the 19th instant.
