Vol. 95 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Communism.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is in a position to state what is the position of Communism in Éire to-day; whether it is an active organisation and under what name it carries on its activities; also how many known cells there are and where they are located.

Mr. Boland

So far as I am aware, any activities of the kind referred to in the question are being carried on, at present, within the law and I propose, in accordance with the usual practice, to regard as confidential any information about such activities which comes to me through official channels.

Would the Minister not refer Deputy Giles to Deputy Everett, who has enough information on the matter?

Why? I think Deputy Larkin could give more information than any other member of the House. He has not dissociated himself from the "Vanguard."

Deputies might exchange their confidences outside the House.
