Vol. 95 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Griffin Estate (Cashel).

asked the Minister for Lands if any steps have been taken to acquire the Griffin state, Cashel, with a view to division amongst the landless men, uneconomic holders and cottiers of the district; and if he will see that these lands are not allowed to be sold.

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Knockroe and for the resumption of the lands of Farranamanagh in occupation of the Reps. of George Griffin, deceased. Objections against both acquisition and resumption have been lodged by the owners and have not yet been decided by the Land Commission.

The Land Commission have no power to prevent the sale of these lands, but such sales will not affect their power to acquire the lands subsequently if they so decide and if they are suitable for their purposes.
