Vol. 95 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Facilities for Croghan (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider the erection of a public telephone at the Post Office at Croghan, Daingean, County Offaly, for the convenience of all the local residents, as the nearest telephone is five miles away; and if he will have it erected as soon as possible.

I regret that this request cannot be favourably entertained at present. Apart from considerations of cost, the provision of public telephone facilities at Croghan Post Office would involve the use of an abnormal amount of engineering materials which, on account of shortage, could not be spared in existing conditions.
