Vol. 95 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Unvested Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a number of people who have obtained a holding of land from the Land Commission in County Dublin for some years past are very perturbed that their holdings have not been vested in them; and if he will state when he will expedite this matter.

Owing to depletion of their staff, due to emergency conditions, the Land Commission are not at present in a position to proceed at their usual speed with the vesting in allottees of parcels of land allotted to them in County Dublin and elsewhere. The Land Commission endeavour to vest as many as possible of the parcels in respect of which the allottees have shown during a probationary period their capacity to work the land themselves in a proper manner, but the rate of vesting must depend on the restoration of a full complement of staff.

Will the Minister say what he means by the words "at their usual speed"? Is it fast or slow?

At the Land Commission rate.
