asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the attention of the Publicity Bureau has been drawn to a statement by the Irish correspondent in a recent issue of an English Sunday paper to the effect that, owing to the failure of the Government of Eire to secure a small quantity of nickel steel from the British Government, the Electricity Supply Board was unable to carry out essential repairs to the turbines at Ardnacrusha, and, as a consequence, a serious breakdown in the supply of electricity in Eire was threatened; and, further, that as a result of the intervention of the said correspondent it was expected that the necessary quantity of nickel steel was likely to be made available by the British Government; and whether, if this statement is not true, an official denial will be issued through the Bureau.
