Vol. 95 No. 11

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workers' Insurance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state for the County and City of Dublin and for the last three months for which figures are available the total amount contributed in respect of "wet time" insurance; and also the amount distributed in benefit to the workers.

The information is not available in the exact form required by the Deputy but the best possible particulars of the type indicated have been specially compiled.

The total amount received for sales of supplementary insurance stamps issued under the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942, in the City and County of Dublin during the quarter ended 31st December, 1944, was £4,763 16s. 4d.

Supplementary benefit is payable by employers and repayable, on application, out of the Supplementary Unemployment Fund. The amount repaid to employers out of the fund in respect of workers employed in the City and County of Dublin in the quarter ended 31st December, 1944, was £723 2s. 10d.

Might it be true to say that there was about one-sixth of the amount contributed over a given period?

The amount secured from the sale of stamps in the last quarter of the year would be somewhat abnormal, and would be no indication of the sales over a whole year.
