Vol. 95 No. 11

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Houses.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state how many new houses built by the Land Commission over two years ago in County Meath are not occupied by the tenants to whom they were allotted; and when he intends to take action to disposses those allottees and have those houses given to tenants who will occupy them.

The Land Commission are not in a position to state definitely how many of the houses built by them over two years ago on parcels of land allotted in County Meath are unoccupied by the allottees thereof at a particular time. Warnings are issued to allottees who are ascertained not to be in occupation of their houses. If these warnings are disregarded, proceedings may be instituted to take up the houses and parcels from unsatisfactory allottees for reallotment to more suitable persons.

At present the Land Commission have under consideration 41 cases of allottees in County Meath who have been reported as not being in occupation of the dwelling-houses on their parcels and in seven of these cases proceedings to resume possession have been or are now being instituted.

Questions Nos. 5 and 6 will be set down for written answer, which will appear in the Official Report.
