Vol. 95 No. 11

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rubber Boots for Farm Workers.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state whether it is now possible to make a supply of rubber boots available for farm workers.

I regret that the rubber position does not permit of the production of a supply of rubber boots for farm workers. There is only a very small stock of rubber boots held by the manufacturers and these have to be kept for certain classes of essential users such as miners, chemical workers, etc.

From time to time limited quantities of imported rubber boots become available and apart from footwear rationing no official control is exercised over their distribution. They are distributed through the ordinary trade channels and farm workers can obtain them.
