Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Control of Farm Pollution Scheme.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

195 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will have arrangements made whereby farmers who are forced to carry out pollution control work by the fishery boards will qualify for grant aid under the restored control of farm pollution programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24769/98]

The new scheme for the control of farm pollution the conditions of which are being drawn-up at present, will be targeted towards those farmers most in need of grant aid to carry out necessary pollution control measures on their farms. The measures will include addressing deficiencies found by the regional fishery boards in so far as they will fall within the conditions of the scheme.
