Vol. 95 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Government Elections in Roscommon.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state if he has decided to hold the local elections in County Roscommon this year, and if he will give some indication of the date on which they will be held.

There has been no decision yet. The matter will come up for consideration later on. I may point out that in the case of a local authority whose members have been removed from office in pursuance of Part IV, Local Government Act, 1941, a fresh election is not required by law to be held before the expiration of three years from the date of removal, and if the expiration of such period falls within 12 months of the next triennial election of councillors an election need not be held until such triennial election.
