Vol. 95 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Town Commissioners.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it is his intention to abolish town commissioners after the local elections this year, and if he is prepared to make a statement on the matter.

Perhaps the Deputy on further consideration of the terms of his question will realise that it would be absurd to hold local elections for local bodies if it was intended to abolish them after the elections.

When is it proposed to restore the powers of the bodies dissolved since the last election?

That is a separate question.

Is it intended to hold elections for town commissioners already abolished?

I am not prepared to make a statement on that question at present.
