Vol. 95 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages for Telegraph Construction Work.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state (i) the rate of wages paid to casual labourers employed on telegraph construction work on the Clonmel-Fethard route, and (ii) how the standard of wages is arrived at.

The rate of wages paid to casual labourers employed on the work referred to is 38/- for a 48-hour week, the actual wage being 34/10 for the 44-hour week worked. The rate is based on that paid by the local authority to road workers as notified to the Post Office by the Department of Industry and Commerce.
