Vol. 96 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Sligo Bogs.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has been approached frequently during the past five or six years regarding the acquisition of Drimina and Sessuecommon Bogs on the estates of Patrick Gallagher (Record No. U.10831), Patrick McHugh (Record No. U.10615), and —. Tweedy (Record No. U.12695), for division among people in the surrounding areas who are without turbary, and who are compelled to pay exorbitant prices for turf-banks; whether he is aware that Sligo County Council, under a Board of Works grant, has spent considerable sums in making roads through these bogs; and whether he is now in a position to state if and when these bogs will be taken over and divided among the local applicants.

Representations have been received by the Land Commission urging the acquisition of the bogs at Drimina and Sessuecommon on the estates in question. The Land Commission have under consideration the question of the acquisition of these bogs but are not yet able to state if or when the bogs will be acquired and divided.
