Vol. 96 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Counsel's Emoluments from State.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the capacities in which Mr. Tadhg Forbes has been employed by the State within the past year, and the emoluments which he has received for his services.

During the year 1944 Mr. Forbes was employed as counsel on behalf of the State, as chairman of the Court of Referees in the Dublin area under the Unemployment Insurance Acts, 1920 to 1943, and as Referee under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934. His total emoluments for the year from these sources amounted to £1,429 6s. 11d.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary, or does the Minister for Finance, consider it wise that such an official of the State, who is in receipt of so much money from public funds, should make himself objectionable in constituencies at election time on behalf of Fianna Fáil?

That is a completely different question.
