Vol. 96 No. 7

Written Answers. - Accommodation of Tuberculosis Patients.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that a married man (name supplied), who is suffering from tuberculosis and who has three children, all of whom occupy one room, has been unable to gain admission to Rialto Hospital, Dublin; and, if so, if he will cause inquiries to be made into this case; and if he will ensure that immediate temporary accommodation is provided for all patients urgently in need of treatment.

From inquiries I have made in this case it is not correct to say that the person referred to has been unable to gain admission to Rialto Hospital. In fact the patient only reported to the tuberculosis officer for the first time on the 1st ultimo and arrangements have been made by the local authority to admit him to Rialto Hospital for treatment. As regards the latter part of the question I have nothing to add to the full statements I made in the matter during the recent discussions on the Tuberculosis (Establishment of Sanatoria) Bill.
