Vol. 96 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - U.S.—Éire Air Agreement.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state if his attention has been drawn to recent statements in the British Parliament concerning the Air Agreement between this country and the United States, and if the interpretation accorded to the Agreement is correct; and, if not, if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have seen Press reports of the statements in question and am awaiting copies of the official record. I shall deal with this amongst other matters in the course of the forthcoming debate on Resolutions approving of certain documents drawn up by the Chicago Conference on International Civil Aviation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when it is proposed to introduce legislation to give effect to the Air Agreement between this country and the United States.

Legislation is not necessary to give effect to the Agreement mentioned in the question. The Agreement was effected by exchange of notes and by virtue of the Government's executive powers.
