Vol. 97 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if the Land Commission propose to acquire the Cussen estate at Kilmacaddock, Leixlip, for division among local landless men.

The question appears to refer to the lands of Kilmacaddock (Upper and Lower) in the occupation of Joseph Cussen. The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of these lands, and owing to the emergency conditions they do not propose to take any action in the matter at present.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is proposed to divide the Going Estate, Cragg, Birdhill, County Tipperary.

The Land Commission are not at present in a position to state when the Going Estate will be allotted.

Will the Minister say how long the estate has been in the hands of the Land Commission?

I do not know. Certain local arrangements have to be made before the division can be effectively carried out.

I am aware of that. Is the Minister aware that the estate is long enough in the hands of the Land Commission to give them ample time to have a scheme prepared?

I explained the position in regard to lands such as these in my reply to the debate on the Land Commission Estimate. The Deputy would be well advised to read my remarks in the Official Report.
