Vol. 98 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Personal Injuries (Fire Prevention) Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total number of claims for compensation received under the Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Fire Prevention) Scheme, 1944 (S.R. & O., No. 326 of 1944); distinguishing between the various types of claims, the number (a) in which compensation has been granted; (b) in which compensation has been refused, and (c) undecided cases.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total number of claims for compensation received under the Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Fire Prevention) Scheme, 1944 (Revocation) Scheme, 1945; distinguishing between the various types of claims, the number (a) in which compensation has been granted; (b) in which compensation has been refused, and (c) undecided cases.

As the Deputy is no doubt aware, the Emergency Powers (Fire Prevention) Order, 1943, has been revoked and the organisations created thereunder have accordingly ceased to function. With their disappearance and in view of the fact that no claim for compensation was received under the Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Fire Prevention) Scheme, 1944, that scheme has itself been revoked by the Emergency Powers (Compensation for Personal Injuries) (Fire Prevention) Scheme, 1944 (Revocation) Scheme, 1945. No claim can, of course, arise under the revocation scheme.
