Vol. 98 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - The Old Age Pensions Acts.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in view of existing economic and financial conditions, he is prepared to introduce proposals for legislation to amend the statutory conditions as to means provided by the Old Age Pensions Acts so as to provide that (a) in calculating the means of a person for the purpose of those Acts, a pension or superannuation allowance granted to an employee by an employer should not be taken into account; and (b) that in calculating the means of a person for the purpose of those Acts the value of any benefit or privilege enjoyed by that person other than the actual cash benefit as of right should not be taken into account.

I do not propose to introduce legislation to amend the Old Age Pensions Acts in the manner suggested.
