Vol. 98 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Balbriggan Telephone Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is prepared to extend the present telephone service in Balbriggan to a 24-hour service.

The number of subscribers connected to the Balbriggan exchange does not, I regret, warrant the provision of continuous service. I am, however, considering whether, in connection with post-emergency development plans, it may be practicable to afford continuous service generally on a more liberal scale than is permissible under existing regulations.

If the Deputy has in mind any particular subscriber in the area who requires an emergency continuous service, I shall have the matter specially considered.
