Vol. 98 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Duddy Estate (Meath).

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if it is still the intention of the Land Commission to acquire the Duddy Estate at Batterstown, County Meath, for acqusition amongst the local uneconomic holders; if he is aware that an intending purchaser is seeking to secure this estate; and if, with a view to relieving congestion in the area, the Land Commission will acquire this holding at the earliest opportunity, and refuse sanction for private sale.

Proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission, and are continuing, for the resumption of the holding of Mrs. Jane Duddy in the townland of Moyleggan on the Daniell Estate, County Meath. The Land Commission have no power to prevent private sales of land, but such sales do not operate to prevent the Land Commission from exercising their powers of resumption or acquisition.
