Vol. 98 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Identification of Offaly Turbary Plots.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that tenants who hold turbary on the Warburton Estate in the townlands of Garryhinch, Barranaghs, Cloneyhuske and Magheranaskeagh, County Offaly, are unable to identify their portions of turbary and cannot use them on that account; and, if so, if he will arrange for an inspector of the Land Commission to meet the tenants as soon as possible and indicate the divisions of the bog to them.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to his previous question of 30th March, 1944, on this matter. In April, 1944, a Land Commission inspector visited the bogs to indicate their turbary plots to any allottees who were still unaware of their locations. No further applications for indication of plots on these bogs have been received by the Land Commission, but if particulars are furnished of all persons still requiring to have their plots pointed out to them, arrangements will be made for a final visit by an inspector for this purpose.
