Vol. 98 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Design of Buses and Railway Coaches.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the fact that large replacements of buses and passenger railway coaches must shortly be undertaken by Córas Iompair Éireann, he will state whether he will take steps to see that alterations are required in the existing types of buses and coaches so as to improve the comfort and convenience of the travelling public.

This is a matter for the management of Córas Iompair Éireann. I am advised, however, that the company is giving special attention to vehicle improvements for the greater comfort and convenience of passengers.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, is he aware that 13 years ago we were informed that this was a matter for the Road Traffic Bill, and that all these matters would be considered under that head and regulations made?
