Vol. 98 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Settlement of County Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the position in regard to the estate of Jordan in the townland of Fairhill, Electoral Division of Islandeady, County Mayo; and if the Land Commission will now proceed with the final settlement of the estate in view of the fact that the present arrangement is causing great inconvenience to the tenants; and if he will further state the reason why two appeals from solicitors on behalf of the tenants were not replied to.

The Jordan Estate, Record No. S.8566, consists of five small judicial tenancies (total area 42a. 1r. 38p.) and an undivided area of 60a. 1r. 21p. held by the tenants in undivided ?th shares.

From a surveyor's report on the estate obtained recently, it appears that the tenants desire the lands to be rearranged by the Land Commission prior to revesting. It is not at present possible to state when the question of such rearrangement can be put in hands.

The Land Commission has no record of the receipt of letters from solicitors on behalf of the tenants on the estate which have not been replied to.
