Vol. 98 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonaslee (County Laoighis) Water and Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will cause inquiries to be made into the necessity for a proper water and sewerage scheme for Clonaslee, County Laoighis; and if his Department will give the matter active attention, as the Leix County Council are anxious to undertake such a scheme.

During the year 1943 my Department issued requests to local authorities for the submission of lists, in order of urgency, of post-emergency schemes. In response to these requests Laoighis County Council placed the provision of a water supply for Clonaslee third in their order of priority of places stated to be in need of a water supply. No proposals for the provision of a water supply for Clonaslee have yet been submitted to my Department by the Laoighis County Council. When they have been, the position will then be investigated. The provision of a sewerage scheme could not be undertaken until an adequate piped water supply has been provided.
