Vol. 98 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post-emergency Agricultural Policy.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is intended to introduce legislation to give effect to the recommendations made in the three reports of the committee of inquiry into post-emergency agricultural policy; and in particular to give effect to the recommendations that lime and artificial manures should be substantially subsidised, and that the prices of dairy produce, poultry, eggs, pigs, wheat, barley, oats and sugar beet should be guaranteed.

The reports to which the Deputy refers are under consideration and I am not yet in a position to state what action may be taken in regard to the recommendations contained therein.

Can I take it from the Minister that action will be taken before the next year's sowing season, or does he propose to set up another commission to inquire into these reports?

I have not decided upon that.

Will the House be given an opportunity of discussing the matter?

I suppose so, if the House wishes it
