Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Distress in Europe.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state in respect of each country concerned the quantities of (a) food, and (b) commodities other than food sent abroad to date for the relief of distress in Europe, and the total value at purchase prices of such consignments.

The particulars requested by the Deputy will be circulated with the Official Report.

INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS:

(These supplies have been distributed in Albania, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Yugoslavia. The arrangements for sending supplies through the International Red Cross to these countries were not completed as early as those made with the Western European Governments. The cargoes are now, however, being sent at regular intervals.)

NOTE.—In addition, also under the Government relief scheme, the following supplies have been sent to Belgium, France and the Netherlands and have been paid for by the Governments of those countries, viz., 3,927 cattle and 324 horses to Belgium; 192 cattle and 1,206 horses to France, and 1,190 cattle and 60 horses to the Netherlands.
