Vol. 99 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leix County Council Resolution.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether he has received a further resolution from Leix County Council requesting him to meet the deputation from the County Councils of Leix and Offaly with reference to the roads administration in both counties; and if he will now alter his decision and hear the views of the deputation with a view to securing closer co-operation between his Department and the county councils concerned.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply to his previous question on the 14th February. I have received no resolution on the subject since then but in any event I do not propose to alter the decision already come to.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that at a meeting of the Leix County Council held on the 12th January a resolution was passed requesting the Minister to reconsider his previous decision not to receive a deputation? This morning I communicated with the county council by 'phone and I discovered that two days after the meeting the secretary of the county council forwarded the resolution to the Minister's Department. I am satisfied that the resolution is with the Local Government Department.

I have replied to the Deputy.

Am I to understand that the Minister has not received the resolution?

I have given a reply to the Deputy.
