Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Cost-of-Living Bonus.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of money retained by the Exchequer, in each of the years since 1940, inclusive, as a result of the stabilisation of the cost-of-living bonus payable to civil servants.

The payment of Civil Service cost-of-living bonus for each year from 1940 to 1945, inclusive, at the rates which would have applied if stabilisation had not been introduced as on and from the 1st July, 1940, by the Civil Service (Stabilisation of Bonus) Regulations, 1940, would have involved extra charges on the Exchequer estimated as follows:—
