Vol. 100 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Athy Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission will cause an inspection to be made of the lands of Mr. J. McGrath, Glassealy, Kilmeade, Athy, which the owner is willing to surrender to the Land Commission, with a view to having these lands acquired for division among local small-holders and landless men.

The Land Commission have no proceedings in hands for the acquisition of the holding of Joseph McGrath at Glassealy, County Kildare, nor are they aware that the owner is prepared to surrender them.

Will the Minister cause inquiries to be made with a view to ascertaining whether it is not a fact that Mr. McGrath is willing to hand over this estate to the Land Commission for division amongst local small-holders and landless men?

I assume that, if Mr. McGrath is willing and anxious to get rid of the land, he will notify the Land Commission.

Has he not already done so?

I informed the Deputy in answer to the original question that there was no knowledge in the Land Commission of any such offer.
