asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of the Industrial and Life Assurance Amalgamation Company, Limited, the total amount of capital authorised and the amount paid up; the total amount of capital held by the Minister for Finance and by any other State authority; and the amount received into the Exchequer in each of the financial years ended 31st March, 1945 and 1946, arising out of the State's holdings in the company.

The authorised capital is £200,010, divided into 2,000,000 "A" ordinary shares of 2/- each and 100 "B" ordinary shares of 2/- each. The paid-up capital amounts to £102,947 4s. 0d., consisting of 1,029,472 shares of 2/- each. The Minister for Finance holds, either directly or through nominees, 191,151 shares of 2/- each fully paid, including the 100 "B" shares. No other State authority holds shares in the company. No dividend was received in either of the financial years 1944-45 or 1945-46 in respect of the shares held by the Minister for Finance.
